Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Description
While the ski down isn't particularly good, this route is easy to navigate to a pretty spectacular summit. The ridge is usually wind-scoured, and you're better off sticking with
The Polar Line if you just want turns.
Navigation is easy: head east until you hit the obvious ridge of New York Mountain, take a right, and just follow it to the summit. While you can't get lost of the way up, returning to the hut might be trickier since you can't see it in the trees. Follow your skin track, GPS recording, or use the onX Backcountry mobile app. If you feel confident in your location, ski
The Polar Line straight home.
Be careful of bad weather. It would be ugly up there!
