Saint Mary's Glacier

Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry

Conditions vary from month to month, and from year to year. If you're expecting amazing turns all year round, this isn't your place. If you just want to get some turns in over the summer, this is it. It can be pretty manky, dirty and difficult in general, but that's half the fun!

*As of the 22/23 Season, parking has now changed from $5 to @20 pre vehicle at the lot, this place gets busy (heavily travelled), and storms roll in pretty quickly, so be prepared.

There is snow here all year round (it got pretty thin, especially that bad year - yeah, you remember that year). There was still snow, but not too much during that bad year.

Beyond summertime fun, it should be noted that the epic and steep east face overlooking St Marys Lake has not only slid several times, but also taken lives. When descending skiers right of the glacier down to the lake, one is entering avalanche terrain in an otherwise "safe" ski.
