Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Description
Starting at the access trail that is cut in the right side of the small parking area, skin up the western slopes. The first hazard is the fact that the access trail is inside the avalanche zone from the lookers right side of Sheep Creek. If the snowpack is unstable, the forecast is bad, you've seen avalanche activity in the area, or you are not confident in your ability to assess backcountry travel, it is best to avoid this ascent altogether. I drew the route line to the left side of the access trail, suggesting you avoid the terrain trap if at all possible.
The second hazard is Sheep Creek itself. To access the western low-angle slopes, one must cross this creek. Depending on the season and the surrounding weather, this creek may be running under the snow causing extremely dangerous chasms hidden by snow bridges.
Once past these two major hazards, follow the high point on the ridge line up to your desired line and ski down.
