Description

To reach the trailhead, drive through the town of Eldora and continue on Eldora Ave. until the road is closed. For much of winter, parking is only available on Eldora Ave., so make sure to pay attention to parking signs!

Follow the road to the fork with 4th of July, climbing to the north and the road to Hessie continuing to the west. Continue on the road to the townsite of Hessie. The early sections of the road to Hessie cross a wide stream and there may be open water. There is a trail on the north side of the road if it is not frozen.

After passing through the townsite of Hessie, you'll continue on the Devils Thumb trail at a gentle grade before climbing more steeply. The trail flattens out again before the intersection with the Devils Thumb Bypass Trail. The trail climbs more steeply before reaching Lost Lake.

This trail provides access to the Lost Lake Glades and Lost Lake Summit. This is a very popular trail even in winter and easy to find.
