Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Description
This ascent is a low angle skin track that runs through the bottom of the drainage. By sticking close to the drainage, you'll avoid some of the most dense foliage, and make your way up a fairly consistent slope.
Beartrap Fork provides excellent intermediate terrain with relatively low avalanche hazard. Popular runs in Beartrap Fork include
Beartrap Aspens, The Cone, and
Beartrap Glades. You can also access
Powder Park 3 and Lake Desolation from Beartrap Fork.
Ninety-Nine 90 chairlift provides reasonably easy sidecountry access to Beartrap Fork, although you'll need to skin a short distance back to the resort. This is also a good way to access the skiing in the Willow Creek drainage to the East.
