Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Overview
This excellent, long run is easily attainable with a quick and easy 580' climb, just take F*** up cut.
Need to Know
The lower section needs a fair bit of snow to cover up the forest debris. Not recommended for early season.
Description
From the summit, head towards the highway staying on, or just left of a small ridge. There will be a gully to the right of the ridge that gets deeper as you descend. Do not go in it - stay to the left.
The angle of this line stays pretty mellow except for some moderately tricky sections in the middle. This line avoids the cliffs of
Golden Peak: North and is generally easier. It is mostly aspen skiing, which is also easier than the nearby fir forest.
Following this line, you'll end just above the golf course maintenance shed. There is a trail just above here that will almost certainly be well tracked. Follow it to the left and you can easily access the road without touching private property.
Once you hit the road, walk towards Vail Village and you'll find a bus stop soon enough. The bus is free and will have you at the Vail transit center in a couple minutes (though it only comes every hour).
