Silver Run, Horseshoe Meadows

Thin to no snow most of the winter. Road and parking area are plowed by USFS and nearby homeowners. USFS outhouse at trailhead parking area.

To access this route, park at the Silver Run trailhead. Head through the green gate up the Silver Run ski trail and take the first major left up Silver Run Road. Follow the road until you break into the edge of the meadows. The slopes to ski are up to your right.

Climb up the ridge to the top of the meadow system and then ski back down to the Silver Run Road. These meadows hold snow immediately after a storm and then often melt out. With bigger storms, you can go further to the right, but for the most part, the good snow is on the skier's left side of the meadows. A good place to get in some quick laps just outside town.

Trailhead provides access to the Silver Run National Recreation Trail loops, which is popular in winter for nordic skiing, snowshoeing, dog walking, and snow biking.
