Description

From Lawn Lake, follow the trail that leads northwest to The Saddle (past the trail junction to Crystal Lakes). At around 12,000' and just before The Saddle, leave the trail (if there is one) and follow the path of least resistance for one mile to the summit.

Crampons are rarely needed for this ascent, but a pair of microspikes may be helpful. This would also make a fun descent if the South Face is in bad shape.

Rocky Mountain National Park looks beautiful from the summit of Fairchild Mountain. Longs Peak is on the far left. Ypsilon Mountain (and its beautiful Blitzen Ridge) can be seen on the right.
