Need to Know
This is the middle of a giant avalanche path comprised of a series of individual starting zones and paths. The entire bowl can slide when certain slab characteristics have developed. When it does, it drops to the bottom of the flat basin and the northern side of the bowl continues into the main runout at the north side of the flat basin that the Waterfall Line runs into.
Description
This is the prominent line in the middle of Wildy Bowl that bisects the bench feature. Note that this line is located in the middle of a giant avalanche path comprised of a series of individual starting zones and paths.
History & Background
An R4D4 slide occurred during March 2010 after a strong El Nino produced above average snowfall through early spring. Debris at the bottom of the Waterfall Line was up to 25' deep, and traveled most of the ways up the tree island at the bottom as evidenced by flagging in the trees and debris that was left through June that year. The debris that continued past the flat basin cleared out older trees in the main slide path and left similar deep deposits in the marsh at the bottom.
