Chikadee Ridge

Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry

From the parking area by the road, aim to head up the smaller, closer summit to the SW. You'll encounter wooded glades, and the trees may disrupt your view of the landmarks, but trust that if you're ascending, you're headed in the right direction. Veer a bit to your left as you approach the summit, and you should pop out of the trees and onto the ridgeline. From here you can easily see the bigger peak, and often flocks of chickadees! Continue up the ridgeline toward the summit, dipping into the face when rocks get in your way. Kickturns and switchbacks will be necessary. From the top, you should encounter a gorgeous view of both Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley.
