Need to Know

You need to leave a car at the small pull-off on Rt. 16.

No skins are needed, but this would be easiest on skis with scales and metal edges, otherwise it's fastest to skate on the groomed XC trails. Most of the skiing is on a very gently sloped path that is not really wide enough for turns, but you don't really need to make turns. Allow ~2 hours to do the whole route.

Description

Ski straight off the back side of the Wildcat ski area. Once you reach the Jackson XC trail network, there are some intersections to follow, but there is more than one way to get down to Rt. 16 through those trails. Some of the intersections have trail maps posted. In fact, this route is probably not the fastest, it's probably faster to stay on the groomed XC trails. About half way between the summit and XC network, there is a beautiful, wide glade that is about 10 turns long.
