Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Overview
This short, low angle, wide open run is ideal for first-time backcountry skiers/boarders. At its most narrow, the run is about 50' wide, and at its widest is about 200' wide. The gully is pretty much completely clear of trees and offers an excellent opportunity for people beginning to explore the backcountry to ride a clear, open, low-angle line without worrying about significant avalanche terrain or sketchy terrain traps (however, obviously, anyone recreating in the backcountry should be cognizant of avalanche conditions and warning signs).
Need to Know
There is a $7/day fee for recreating in the CO State Parks. This is an organization worth supporting!
Description
I am suggesting a 4/5 star rating for LR because of its convenience and appeal for beginner skiers. I am not aware of an excessive amount of intro-level runs of this quality. Anyone with significant backcountry (or even steep in-bounds experience) might find this run boring.
Approach: The easiest way to ascend Larry's Run is to skin up it. There is a parking area on the far side of North Michigan Creek Reservoir (marked by "Grass Creek Yurt Winter Parking").
