Overview

After a fairly hard skin up from Roberts Creek drainage, this run will guarantee good powder skiing since almost nobody ever skis here.

Need to Know

This is a very remote ski run crossing/skiing numerous avalanche paths. If you are a beginner/intermediate skier, this is not the run or area for you. If you are not fully self sufficient with all required gear, avoid this area.

Description

Please use standard Flora Creek approach from Roberts Creek, pink survey tape marks the way. No doubt a very hard skin/approach since 99% of the time it will not be established.

Once we gained the ridge/shoulder, we skied down the first avalanche path. This is a true concave drainage, trees and ridge on the right, rock outcropping on the left. We skied on the upper skier's right side of the drainage, in the small trees.

After 500' vertical drop, we cut into the left, under another avalanche path and a rock outcropping. After cutting under/through the Flora Drainpipe, and a few trees, this led us into a fairly wide open section (this section is seen from Hwy 40) that would eventually drain into Flora Creek. Once in the opening, head to the far left lower corner.

Overall, the creek skiing was awesome, fast skiing with open water and downed trees. This skiing would be near impossible during early season or during low snow years. The drain into 7 Mile/Frazier River is no problem: turn right and shortly you'll be at the highway.
