Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
This is on the edge of Winter Park ski area. It would be a bad idea to try and enter the ski area on the west side of
Zero Creek Drainage.
Need to Know
No real avalanche danger on most of this approach, but the drop-in points into
Zero Creek or
Zero Creek Bowl all have high avalanche potential.
Be sure to do the following:
- Carry a transceiver, shovel and probe
- Consult with the CAIC website (
avalanche.state.co.us/)
Description
Parking Area:
- Please use the same parking area as lower
Zero Creek approach, and also "
Morning Glory".

- For the most part, follow the upper east side of the
Zero Creek drainage to the drop-in point for "
Morning Glory"
- After passing "
Morning Glory," continue up still following the upper east side of the
Zero Creek drainage
- There are numerous drop-in points facing north before getting to the
Zero Creek Bowl
- Just as the
Zero Creek Bowl comes into sight, you have to climb a slightly steep section if your plans are to ski the harder lines in the bowl
- Just before the steep section to access the bowl skiing, there is an easy drop-in point for the
