Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Overview
When conditions are bad up high, the trees in the lower section of the
Devils Thumb Ridge and
Satan's Abbey are known to hold onto the snow. Powder stashes abound in fun terrain that rolls playfully into steeper steps. A few downed trees and boulders create some fun features to play around on.
Description
From the top of
Satan's Abbey, you have the ability to drop down through some truly fun open woodlands. That deep gully you see to the North (skiers right)? Keep it there. There are pretty much 2 steps in the decent, the first is shorter and not quiet as steep. The bottom step is steeper and longer. A few dead fallen trees and large boulders make for some fun little features to mess around with. The options throughout this area are diverse! Explore and enjoy! When snow is low, you'll have to slash your turns through the occasional willow, but it's not too bad.
