Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Overview
Big north-facing couloir line dumps you onto Middle Teton Glacier with views of the Grand all the way down. It's big, it's sluffy, it's a long approach, but 100% worth it.
Description
Ascend Garnet Canyon from Taggart Lake trailhead, take a right at Spalding Falls meadow, as if you are skiing the Grand. Once in the upper bowl, head towards the saddle between Mid and Grand. Soon you'll see the hanging glacier on your left, start skinning up, then bear right at the top near the rock face.
Ascend the couloir; be watching for loose snow coming off the rocks to your right. This line really is a grind, but is probably the most spectacular I've ever skied in terms of views and snow quality, as it faces the Grand and is protected from most storms.
