Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Overview
Follows the low-angle drainage above the treeline west of the Broome Hut, up to the Continental Divide. Excellent views to the east of Mines Peak, Flora, Eva, Parry Peak, and
James Peak. The top lift house of Panoramic Lift at Mary Jane is visible to the northwest.
Description
From the Broome Hut, continue west through the treeline - there is usually a skin or snowshoe track. Once through the treeline, continue following the lowest point of the drainage that feeds into First Creek, up gradual incline, staying in the shallow drainage.
Please avoid the willows and brush as this is a ptarmigan nesting area. Follow this line to approx. 12,000' elevation. Follow the approach for a very easy ski down.
Steeper lines are to be had, only moderately more difficult, by trending north or south from the shallow drainage. This is a good, easy/beginner or kid-friendly outing in a great setting.
