Description

Start from the winter closure of Castle Creek Road, at Ashcroft. Continue along this well-groomed road until you reach the turnoff for Pearl Pass Road to the right. This will start climbing more steeply and pass by a campground. Continue up that until the road switchbacks up a gully.

At the top of this gully, cut off to the north and into the drainage that leads towards Malemute Peak. If you reach Green Wilson and Taggart huts, you've gone too far on the Pearl Pass Road.

Continue up the basin, keeping right whenever there's an option. You might see signs of the summer 4WD road. Eventually, you'll find yourself below Conundrum Couloir and the North Face of Castle.
