Guardsman Pass gate closure over winter.

Overview

This is an alternative to skiing back down to the Brighton side of Point 10,420. I think the ideal ski here would be to park at the winter gate closure on the Park City side of Guardsman Pass and skin/ski the whole face. A backup plan would be to stick to the pass road either on the up or both the up and down.

Need to Know

This is avalanche terrain and one should adjust their plans accordingly. I saw evidence of a minor slough slide on a sunny day even after several days without snowfall.

Description

If one feels confident in the terrain and abilities, this can be an untracked paradise. The face is plenty large for a group of 4-6 to all hit new powder and there are ample opportunities for several unique variations of the line down multiple drainages. This can be skied all the way down to the winter gate closure on the PC side.

This line is well-documented in "Backcountry Skiing Utah" by Bradley, as well as "Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes: Utah" by Hargrave. Adding here because this is a money line and area.
