Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
There is a gate at Chisholm closing the road to Palisade Falls. Depending on the time of year you go, you may be able to drive a mile further up the road.
Need to Know
The trickiest part is probably deciding when to cross the drainage, and start heading west. You should wait longer than you may think you need to wait. There is substantial overhead hazard in this basin, so be heads up about your position and route finding.
Description
Park at Chisholm or East Fork of Hyalite. Start skinning up the Palisade Falls road. Just before you cross a bridge, there is a trail going up to the right. Follow that trail up into the Flanders drainage. The trail eventually peters out.
Stay on the left side of the drainage most of the way up until it opens up a bit, and levels off.
From there, head west. There is a very large bowl that has massive avalanche potential (just watch this: youtube.com/watch?v=Tp5A5YR…), so be very careful in your route choice and stick to the low angle trees north of the bowl.
At the bottom of the glade run, be sure to stop well outside of the runout zone.
