Park in the SHT (Superior Hiking Trail) parking lot on Rte 6 and enter the skin track on the east side of the parking lot (might be hidden by a big snow pile) and take an immediate left.
It can be a bit bushwacky at times depending on snow depth but gets enough hiking traffic that it should be fairly well marked. Keep an eye on the map for the first 0.25 miles as there is an alternate (and VERY bushwacky) skin track which goes to Sawmill Creek at a larger section.
About a mile in you'll see the sign for Backcountry Ski Area and take a right off of the SHT. After this, the skin track is very well marked and you have another short flat skin before reaching to start of the ascent.
Ascend through beautiful Minnesota forest and finish in an amazing pine stand which provides nice shelter for a summit snack.
