Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Overview
This is the obvious SE-facing summit line from Pettingell Peak down to Herman Lake. If you're looking for a relatively chill day, ski all the way to the lake.
For a much more fun variation, ski only the first few hundred feet off the summit of Pettingell and then immediately traverse hard skiers right to link up the more spicy lines off of Pt. 13,418.
Description
This line is accessed from the
Herman Gulch skintrack. Near Herman Lake there is usually a fork in the track, creating obvious lines to Citadel and to the summit of Pettingell. Take the Pettingell line as efficiently as you want to the summit of this 13er.
This line will likely always be thin and your descent will be dictated by snow coverage. While moderate, this line is technically just steep enough to slide.
