Description

Disembark Jackson Hole tram and traverse high across Rendezvous Bowl to the high backcountry gate. You'll probably see an obvious traverse track - follow that high right heading toward the rocky low northeast ridge of Cody that marks far looker's right boundary of the classic Pucker Face.

Hike scramble up a few hundred feet to gain the top of this short, rocky ridge. Expect a few exposed 4th class moves. Then trend south, hiking on mellow terrain over Pucker Face. From here, pick your delight...or your poison.

Cody Peak is the ultimate alpine sidecountry theater. Almost all of the lines up here are classics. Options ranging from the moderate No Shadows to ridiculous, seldom-repeated lines. As the weather pops blue after a storm, expect a smoke show by the locals visible from the Tram Dock.

Once you top out on the scrambly lower northeast ridge, you can get an eye on Cody's incredible north and east facing lines. This shot taken during a long dry spell in March 2010.
