Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Description
You'll be looking for Exit 216 off of I-70. If you are heading west on I-70 you'll exit on 216 which takes you onto U.S. 6. Look for an unpaved parking lot on your right, if you drive under I-70 you have gone too far.
If you're heading east on I-70, you'll exit on 216 onto U.S. 6, continue past Loveland Ski Resort on U.S. 6 and make a left which will take you under I-70. Look for the parking lot on your left.
From the parking lot, look for a skin track (or boot pack) up a short steep hill leading into the trees. If you're there early enough after fresh snow, head directly up from the parking lot switchbacking through the trees. The trees will eventually open up, work your way up to just above tree line until you reach an area that starts to flatten out. (Do not continue up the bowl as the slope steepens above 30).
From here, you have many great descent options. Stay within the area of your skin track to head back down to your car. Enjoy!
