Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Description
An easy access route in Grand Teton National Park with a close trailhead and moderate climb. From the high point, many descents exist.
Park at the Taggart Lake trailhead and proceed almost immediately uphill. The quickness of which you start getting after it on this route makes it a popular quick day trip. Make your way over a small "foothill" with a view of Taggart Lake to the north then get into the meat of the climb - the Tetons proper.
Skin up the NW side of a small drainage and follow the geographic ridgeline to the where it "tops out". This ridge continues and ultimately turns into Buck Mountain (the massive, exposed face above you) but that's outside the scope of this work. You're focused on the excellent pitch of terrain that ascends almost directly back to the trailhead.
