Need to Know

Beartooth Highway is closed in winter and early spring.

Description

From Reefer Ridge find the wide open basin, peer over the seemingly-too-steep rollover, click in and drop. In spring and summer this line will consist of prime corn snow. But keep in mind that to return back to your car waiting at the Hwy 212 switchbacks will require a skin back uphill 1,000 feet.

Also worthy of note is the wide dogleg-right 2/3 of the way down the line. In very high snow years an exit couloir skier's left is known to go, but taking it in low snow years will find the skier high and dry over a airy cliff so stay the course.
