Overview

The main southerly line from the warming hut and Berthoud Pass parking area.

Need to Know

The bottom of this trail is below a pretty large avalanche runout zone (Floral Park).

Description

From the parking lot at the top of Berthoud Pass, you drop into the obvious ravine to skiers right (adjacent to the road) and continue skiing in this gulch. Eventually, this gulch opens up to a wonderful (but steeper) glade. This might give an intermediate skier / rider a bit of a challenge, but it's well worth it.

The trail finally ends near the road, where most people will hitchhike back to the parking lot. Alternatively though, you could skin back up from where you came.

History & Background

Berthoud Pass has a lot of history, see the Friends of Berthoud Pass site: amazon.com/Climbing-Skiing-…
