Need to Know

The road in is not maintained so perhaps consider taking your buddy's big rig.

Description

This zone is close to Bozeman and makes for a good set of worthy turns without too much uphill effort. The descent provides choices but the start is obvious. The large, open powder field is clearly visible much of the time during the uphill movement and it is not uncommon to see skiers descending in the distance.

From the Ridge take your choice of line once you've mitigated the avalanche hazards. At the bottom of the powder field your choices vary but you can either pick your way into the trees skier's left and find one of the old logging skid roads that snake their way downhill or you can charge directly back to the main summer road for a fast "luge run" back to the rig.

Looking north at the Bridgers. This top area would be great to lap in good snow conditions.

Good skiing, with 2-3 inches of new snow. Enough snow to ski down the uptrack thru the trees.
