Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
The Coxing Creek parking area is officially closed during the winter months. You'll need to park along the road to access this area. There is a small creek that drains from the upper reaches of Dicke Barre wilderness area. The trail crosses this creek twice. Use caution to avoid snow bridges.
Description
The lower regions of the trail take you through a marshy area and past a very old graveyard back in the woods. Continue up the obvious trail until you reach a junction. At the junction, you should go straight. This is where it begins to get steeper (20 degree pitch range), and the switchbacks start. Continue up this until you reach the top. There isn't really any skiing above the talus pile, unless you want to do a mountaineering project and continue up the cliffs and into Peter's Kill area.
Follow the talus slope left or right to begin your descent. Descend to the trail that you crossed at the junction, then follow it back to where you began.
From the car to the top takes maybe 20 minutes. You can get lots of runs in this area if the conditions are good.
