Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Overview
This place has amazing tree skiing starting as early as late October, and lasting all the way through May. It's also an excellent area to lap because of an old roadcut that ascends the northern edge of the zone.
Need to Know
These trees are best accessed from the Montgomery Pass Yurts, owned and rented by Never Summer Nordic.
Description
From the Montgomery Pass Yurts, follow the old logging roads east into the mountains. When the road trends due south, take a left and begin climbing up into this sheltered bowl below Peak 12,170'. From here, you can follow the drainage up into the basin until the obvious tree'd lines are visible to the right.
Skin to the edge of treeline, rip your skins, and get psyched for perfectly mellow-angle, well-spaced trees! Towards the bottom of the run, cut skier's right and you'll pop out back onto the skin track.
