Need to Know
Hole in the Wall is a tough spot to find from above, it takes a ton of traversing and can end in some very complex terrain if you do not know the area!
Description
Hole in the Wall is a classic sidecountry ski line. It goes off the backside of Mammoth Mountain and through the bottomless pit. It's best skiied mid-season when the base is deep as there are a ton of rocks and cliff bands. Hole in the Wall in low snow conditions/years has a mandatory air over small rocks to get into the chute proper. The area also melts out fast when very sunny. At the bottom of the ski line, you can either ski across the lake or take the shoreline then cross the bridge. There is an intermittent bus that will take you back to the ski area.
