Need to Know
Given the easy accessibility of this line, keep in mind the real danger. There are steep slopes leading into a deep creek with much water, including hidden holes that would be easy to suffocate in.
Description
There are MANY lines in this vast drainage. It's a complicated area with many small sub-ridges and creeks which make it confusing (and dangerous). This particular line goes out a spectacular spiny ridge that ends with a mind-blowing steep stash through sparse forest to the creekbed below.
From the exit gate (make sure you have registered with the Kiroro Mountain Club at the base lodge before going out of bounds), meander down low-angle terrain and keep more left than you think. It's very hard to find the ridge, so use the
Powder Project mobile app to stay on track.
Once at the base of the ridge, pop your skis off and hike up for 3 minutes. The ridge is very skinny and steep off either side. Put your skis back on for the final 100 yards to a knob at the end of the ridge.
Now for the glory: about 500' of superb skiing in any direction. Left (east) is the steepest, but also the shortest line. It also ends abruptly in a creek with a ~20' drop and is quite dangerous. Straight and right might be better choices for many people.
A quick exit out the creek will take you back inside the resort.
