Need to Know

Some avy danger in and below the couloir, so avoid skiing it after storms.

Description

Enjoy this sweet line from the top of the Mount Mahler ridge in the beautiful Mahler and Richthofen Cirque. This is a nice descent in the spring, with a short approach but you'll likely have to weave through chunks of fallen rock. Approach by working your way to lake Agnes, once you get to the couloir, swap the skis or snowshoes for boots or crampons and climb the 600 feet up the couloir to the top. Enjoy nice 45 degree turns to the bottom of the couloir followed by 20 - 30 degrees back to the lake.

Hiking the backside of the lake, right before the main ascent to the saddle.

Nice shot of our line down the middle chute. Gaining entrance was difficult from the top due to massive cornices... Would recommend bootpacking.
