Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Description
This is an extremely accessible and fun couloir only about a mile from the car. Conditions can be good year-round as the chute faces north and gets very little sun.
Begin at a parking area below Commodore Ridge, skinning up the ridge through trees. Once Commodore Basin is in sight, the ridge steepens a bit, and a short, but narrow and rocky section guards the top of the couloir. It is best to boot pack this narrow section as a fall here could have some nasty consequences.
Overall, this ascent is straightforward and not terribly taxing, making this area quite accessible.
