One of the steepest lines on Berthoud Pass, and a great, quick spring tour.

Overview

This face of Russell is clearly visible from Hwy 40 near the top of Berthoud Pass.

Need to Know

The top part is no-fall because of the waterfall in the center of the face.

Description

It's fairly steep and the biggest hazard in the descent is an ice waterfall in the center of the face. Most people ski directly down from the summit and then traverse skier's left around the waterfall and into a great open face. From there, it's very mellow tree skiing down to where the route meets up with Hwy 40.
