Sno-Park passes are required if you decide to park in a Sno-Park parking lot, though this is not necessary as the trail starts at a pullout along the road.

Description

Start at the pullout off HW 168 across from the Rancheria Campground. Follow the Rancheria Falls Trail to the third switchback marked by the trail sign and restroom.

Continue up the switchbacks to the base of Black Butte and climb up to the summit. The summit is right at the tree line and has some steep grades in some spots. Be aware of the avy conditions on the way to the summit.
