Mount Tukhmanuk Ski Trail

The Pambak sierra borders the Lori and Aragatsotn marzes, and offers incredible ski slopes. One of the best slopes brings skiers towards Tukhmanuk Mount, which is close to the Aragatsotn marz village of Melik village. Near both Hol and Tukhmanuk mountains, which are only 7,18 kilometers away from each other, you'll climb on the central road of the village. In the search for promising snow, you'll leave the village behind and will climb steadily to the summit.

Due to Tukhmanuk's proximity to Hol, it is easy to plan to ski both during the same day, though the journey is strenuous.

Tukhmanuk Mount is located in Aragatsotn marz region, which is one the northwest side of the Tsaghkunyats mountain range, and about 2 km southeast of Melik village. The summit of the mountain tops out at an elevation of 2761 m.

The Melik village itself is located at 2080 m elevation. It is located about 20 km northeast of Aparan. Located on the northern slopes of Mount Tsaghkunyats, the village has a temperate climate. The winters are cold and long, and the summers are warm and relatively moist. The combination of cool weather and north facing slopes means that the area holds snow later in the spring. The inclines are semi-sloped and cropped.

On the way back you should visit Armenian Alphabet Monument, Saghmosavank, Hovhannavank Monasteries, and the other sights of Aragatsotn marz. St. Hovhannes church is the one church in the village, built in 1891. There is an industrial enterprise dealing which deals with natural diamond processing in the village.

Fauna: The gray bear, the gray wolf, wild cat, the Eurasian lynx, and the red fox are often encountered.

How to get to the trail: In order to reach the above mentioned ski trail you should take a taxi from Yerevan to Melik village of Argatsotn marz, from where the ski trail begins. Please use the taxies, in which counters are installed. Taxies throughout Armenia are quite affordable.
