Class 3 avalanche terrain
Description
This line drops from Kachina Peak's summit into Wildy Bowl. From the summit cairn and prayer flags, ride down to the rollover to the east, slightly trending skier's left to the top of the K9 Couloir. There's a cornice feature to the right and a cleaner entrance to the chute on the left above a rock outcrop.
Check the snow conditions, and if you like what you see, rip this epic line. There's cliffs along the sides that channel avalanches down the chute onto the apron. Near the bottom of the couloir, there's a rock that is often exposed during the spring, then the chute opens above a cliff band with water and ice falls. Stay left to avoid the cliff or ride around to Kachina's eastern slopes.
