Overview

A 45+ degree, narrow couloir just beyond the JHMR boundary.

Need to Know

Avalanche prone area, high consequence fall potential.

Description

To access, exit through backcountry Gate 2 (same gate as Cody Peak Ascent) and ski the fall line, keeping the boundary fence on your left in sight. Spacewalk is the obvious chute that becomes visible as the terrain steepens.

The entrance is flanked by a rocky ridge skier's right and a densely wooded ridge to the left. While not as steep as its neighbor Zero G, it is tighter in spots and features a rocky and narrow choke roughly halfway down. Depending on the snow conditions this may be a small mandatory air. Navigate this section by beginning left and aiming slightly right through the choke; an unforgiving rock wall guards the skier's left side.

Finish by staying left through the exit apron. The basin below feeds directly into lower Rock Springs Canyon (straight) or to the boot pack to Four Pines (skier's right). Both options eventually lead back to the resort.
