Must stay out of bounds for Mt. Hood Meadows when the ski resort is operating. Sno Park permit needed for parking during winter and early spring.

Need to Know

Top pitch of this route can be up to 45-50 degrees—an ice axe and boot crampons are helpful.

Description

Skin uphill around the Mt. Hood Meadows Ski resort, parking with a Sno Park pass in the Meadows parking lot. Once at the top of Cascade Express chair lift, follow the ridge slightly NW up to the top of Superbowl, then W/NW up the Wy'East Face heading through the small rocky outcroppings near the top of the face.

There are great views into the crater and hogsback of Mt. Hood from the summit of the Wy'east face. Plan your descent; there are options to descend into Superbowl and Heather Canyon or around the resort to the west towards White River Canyon. The tracks shown descend around Mt. Hood Meadows to the west side of the resort following the up-track back to the Meadows parking lot.
