Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Need to Know
Obviously on high avalanche days, the approach out of the drainage should be evaluated very cautiously.
Description
This approach assumes that you have skied either Mines 1, Mines 2, The Vortex or the Mines Shoulder. So you start from the drainage below all of these listed ski runs and head up toward The Vortex.
The plan should be to follow the 6.3/6.5 approach (we have used survey tape to mark it). There is a fairly easy skin across Flora, with a few minor jogs that will eventually bring you to tree line just skiers right of the vortex.
At this point, you could drop into the 6.3/
6.5 Ski Run. If you are skiing Roberts Shoulder/Creek you would continue across just above tree line. The approach has some survey tape, but generally speaking this does not take much navigating.
