This is what I thought was the most aesthetic-looking line dropping into Rocky Drainage.

Overview

This line starts with some fun tree skiing, then becomes a steep, then tapers. The area is gorgeous, to say the least, but very difficult to access and escape.

Need to Know

Once you commit to the line, if you don't get buried, you'll wind up at the bottom of Rocky Drainage. There is no easy way out from there!

Description

Start by skiing the south shoulder of Session's Peak, but don't go too far like I did. It's hard to see where to drop in, because evergreens obscure the entrance to the line. (They are easy to ski through; they just make it hard to see where to go.) I had to traverse back a bit to get into the line proper. Anyhow, it starts out fairly steep, then eases a bit. It is a satisfyingly long pitch! On about a third of it, I counted 23 or so turns from my ski tracks.

At the summit looking back the way I came. Not a very good shot as the convexity of the mountain here hides the technical part of the ridge.

This is what happens when you're timing is off. I suppose, however, that crappy skiing is better than getting caught in a wet-slide.
