Overview
This amazing off-piste skiing line is considered one of the most beautiful slopes of the Dolomites, as to both the type of the trail and the fascinating landscape that surrounds it.
The most peculiar passage of the line is the wide natural hole in the cliff that leads to the other side of Tofana di Mezzo. From there, you'll start skiing down the wide rill that stretches out among the dolostone rocks.
Description
From the arrival point of Bus de Tofana chairlift, you'll ascend on foot with a 30-minute walk to get to the foot of the vertical rock face of Tofana di Mezzo.
To access the hole in the rock face, usually climbers descend along the via ferrata using not only rope but also crampons and climbing axes. The so-called Bus de Tofana is an amazing window on the Dolomites summits, the view from that point is extraordinary and unforgettable.
The slope is very steep at the beginning, you'll have to be careful and always check the snow conditions. Then, halfway down the slope, the rill becomes wider and more enjoyable, ending up on a wonderful decline between Tofana di Mezzo and the majestic Tofana di Rozes.
The line leads to the mountain hut Rifugio Dibona, where the cozy terrace is so tempting that you'll certainly stop to have a rest and a well-deserved taste of the traditional cuisine.
