You start at Tamarack Lodge, so you have to park at the street, don't actually park at Tamarack Lodge parking unless you are staying there. (It's really nice!)

Description

You drive down Lake Mary Road until the winter closure. Then you should be around Tamarack Lodge entrance.

From there, find parking, get your gear ready, get on the obvious trail in front of you and go for a while cross country style. There should be a lot of hikers and X-country skiers, that's normal. The first few miles, it might even be easier just to walk with your gear strapped; depends on you.

From here, you can access MANY MANY lines into the backcountry of Mammoth area. This is just one of the easiest ones.
