Great local low-angle option for when the snowpack is too dangerous to go anywhere else.

Overview

The trees just off of the Crater Lakes Trail are a tad tight, but for a competent skier can be a blast. This line offers some fun rock drops if you're willing to explore. Watch for avy danger on the convex rollovers!

Description

Follow the South Boulder Creek Trail just past the junction with the Crater Lakes Trail (about 2 mi). From here, choose a line of ascent picking your way through the trees. It is not recommended you use the Crater Lakes Trail during the winter. The slopes directly above the trail present high avalanche danger.

Be careful on your way up to avoid any convex rollovers, and to take your time on the way down doing the same. If you have enough laps in you be sure to explore a bit, as there are tons of little drops and pillows scattered around!
