Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Overview
Pretty much a bail-out option off the east ridge of Gobblers Knob, but worth the ski. Good cross-loaded snow makes a sort of half-pipe up top, and the bottom is close to the pass which means no transition.
Description
Approach via the east ridge of Gobblers Knob, south of Butler Fork. Drop off the ridge at 10,000 feet, going south. The line follows the main drainage. If you don't want to transition, trend left towards the pass once you hit the trees.
This is prone to wind-loading from the west and is the prime angle for an avalanche, so be sure it's stable.
History & Background
Named for a momma moose and Bruce Tremper, both of whom we met on the same trip.
