A nice line for the White Pass area that starts steep from near the summit ridge and then has nice open tree skiing.

Overview

A nice line on Round Mountain. Nice, mellow ascent on a road. The descent skiing surprised me. 2 or 3/5 star experience overall. Watch for avy danger on the descent down the steep slope off the summit plateau.

Description

Descend from the summit plateau/ridge at a place of your choosing or where we did on the GPX track. This is the steepest skiing (black diamond). Watch out for cliffs if you take an alternate route than we did. Ours is not the only possibility for descent from the summit plateau, however.

After descending the steep slope from the plateau, traverse skiers right across open fields (scree fields in summer). This is nice and easy. Do not descend too early here if you want to find the best line that we skied. Traverse skier's right until almost reaching a spur coming down from the main summit plateau.

From here, take the natural line through the trees to skiers left aiming for the burned out tree areas. This the most fun skiing with mellow lines and no brush to speak of.

Descend to the road and follow it back until you are just above the parking area where you can descend straight down. Beware of descending from the road anywhere else as most spots are extremely brushy and would not make for good skiing.
