Overview

Steep turns from the summit of Woods Mountain that funnel into Woods Creek.

Description

This is such a sweet line and can be done as a loop up Ruby Gulch and all the way around Woods Mountain.

From the summit of Woods, using the Ruby Gulch Approach, head slightly west to find a safe entry into the massive Urad Bowl. Cornices will likely dictate the upper line here.

After a few good steep turns, the bowl widens and the angle lessens for several hundred feet. A slight dogleg skiers left below the bowl leads you into Woods Creek drainage. This drainage is a massive terrain trap and should not be skied lightly. There are also several choke points in the drainage where careful turns must be made.

The drainage ends at Woods Creek Road, part of the Urad Mine complex. Ski or hike down the road to reconnoiter with the Ruby Gulch TH.
