Description

Heading west towards the summit of McClure Pass, stop just shy of the summit of the pass at a small pulloff on the right side of the road. There is enough parking here for several vehicles. Signage at the back of the parking area will say "Huntsman Ridge" & there is a closed access gate.

Skin up this road for ~1.6 miles and about 1,500 feet until you come to an obvious clearing and bowl to the north/your right as you're skiing up. This is Huntsman Ridge and the bowl is Riley Bowl. Make laps in the bowl (remembering that you'll need to climb/skin back up the bowl after each lap).

Once you're done with these excellent laps, ski the forest road back to your vehicle - a fun and easy descent after much steeper turns in the bowl.

The Konsella's "Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes" guidebook is probably the best resource for this area.

There is also good intel at Backcountry Recon: backcountryrecon.com/colora…
