Pennsylvania Mountain Approach

Walking in boots is almost always mandatory if wanting to summit or hit any of the eastern slopes lines.

Begin at the Pennsylvania Mountain Trailhead at the end of the road through the neighborhood. You can also begin at the Pika Trailhead down the street, but that will include extra distance and vert through trees to begin the intended line. Skin down the established trail and up the wide hips of the southeast ridge of Pennsylvania Mountain.

From there, two steeper snowfields will need to be ascended before making your way to the often wind-blown and very open meadowed summit of the mountain.
